i'm not sure what you mean but i had to weld up my lowere frames to make them back into the shape they were suppose to be. perhaps fatigue has taken its toll

Had to bend mine back too...I then welded 3 gussets per side (6 per seat), that ought to take care of it Muddy

Chances are very good your lower seat frame is cracked. They sell a reinforcement for this problem. How good are your welding skills?

I am in the process of redoing me seats and the the inner wall (don't know what else to call it) is also wider at one area. I'm assuming that it is suppose to be that way considering both seat bottoms are the same way and the S springs do not have excessive length. Hope this helps.

The frame rails are supposed to be straight. Not bowed inward. They get bowed over the years due to the weight of the passenger/driver. Straighten them the best you can then (like Muddywaters says) have some gussets/braces welded in. I've seen short pieces of angle iron used or flat iron layed at an angle in the channel.
You'll probably also notice the entire rear of the frame bowed down. That sould be straightened. Once that's done you can buy (or make) a stiffener to lay atop the rear frame to keep it from bending again.

If you look at the link below it shows photo's of the lower seat frames and the condition you describe. From the article it appears that the frames rails are suppose to be narrower at this location.
