I know this is a long shot and everyones dream to find the original block that came with there car, but what the hell stranger things have happend, and I have some leads.
I bought my second 73 convertible last year out of Little Egg Harbor, NJ last fall. An L-82 Dark blue with Blue interior painted white by the previous owner. I have started the dissasembly and ready for the engine to be built. Before I start I'd like to at least try to get the original block back.
The engine was removed a few years ago a a repair shop in Little egg harbor called Pat's automotive on Raidio road that works on several corvettes in the area. I was told this by previous owner, and verified this by talking to the owner of the shop Pat. He was a nice guy and was sorry to inform me that either the engine was taken or placed in another car. He had held onto it for a while, then it dissapeard.
If anyone knows any thing about where the engine is I would be willing to make you an offer for the engine, and Also give you the current block in my car. a (dec-70) 3970010 350 block.
This fourum reaches out to a lot o people in the hobby, and I appreciate your help. Thanks, Deron
Thanks I'll keep it in mind. My car was a late July 73 production car so the febuary date is a little early, but beggars can't be chosers. Your close by so if I don't find anything I'll let you know. If you want to PM me your asking price, and let me know if it's a complete engine or just the block. Thanks
Interesting my 73 is also a July car also. When I pulled the motor or I should say detonated piece of junk. Someone along the way decked the block so the pad was clean. And it was overbored to 60. Got another block and built a 383.
I'm sure it's history. The block I've got would make a mean powerplant. I'm just trying to decide wich way to go with the car. Every thing else is original, besides the paint. The car was built july 23rd. does anyone Know the last day of production in 73?
The last 73 probably came off the assembly line on August 1. I have VIN's of 34375/34450/34452 with a trim tag date codes of L31.
Could I get your VIN SN and the trim tag codes? My 73 is a L20 TT date code with an assembly line completion day of Monday 7-23-73.
I am keeping a datbase of 73's. I currently have 1431 73's listed.
I want all '73 owners information. I'll attach a short version of the database for '73 owners to see. I'll also post a request again for the info. The spreadsheet has several sheets so view all of them.
rms73 do you want my numbers from my 73? Also deron i made a few calls to local shops and guys i know and no 73 engines.
Thank you I appreciate the help.
The car is an l-82 with the 4 bolt mains. so im sure no one junked it unless it was wiped out. The car has 75,000 documented miles so i'm sure it ended up in another car or in a garage somewhere. But most likely it's still local in NJ. Again I appreciate the help.
