Default Hooker header installation questions

Im planning on getting hooker header and sidepipes for my 75. how hard is the installation with just jack stands, or do i need to find someplace to put it on a lift? is this just a swap or do i need to do anything to make them fit? any other advice will be helpful. thanks

even with a lift you will still have to lift the car enough to get the header under the car . i have a lift with a large built in jack .it wasn't hard at all . but be save . also you may want to leave the headers and side pipes loose until you put the body trim back on . you will like the sound and looks .

I'm on my second set of Hookers. Just get the car high enough and it can be done with jack stands. A lift would be nice but in my case, I didn't want to be under a time constraint in rushing to get the car off somebody's elses lift. Take your time, address the details and you will have a nicer install.

You have to get one side up 36" off the floor to get the header in. I can't recall if it was left or right. I did it with the car on ramps then jacked up the frame to get the needed height to swing the header into place. If you want the instructions that come with them, PM me your email address.

I did the last set on jack stands this high:

Gets a little tight cutting off the factory exhaust.

Sorry about the huge pics.

Agree with Sperkins - that's high enough to get the job done. A little higher, like the 6t jackstands instead of 3t would be nice but is not necessary.
I installed my Hookers on four 3t jackstands from (I believe) Target ... they're ACDelco, $12.95 for a pair.

Here's what I recommend:

Breslin locking header bolts (Summit/Jegs)
Copper header gasket (MrGasket f.e.)

Soak the old header bolts in penetrating oil (PB blaster, Kroil), not WD40

I wish i had a lift when i put mine on, what a nightmare.
Chicago salt ate them up in three years the went to factory side pipes
and now to reg duals
2 - 3 feet is a good distance

sperkins is on the money. My jack stands were right at 14" when I did mine (small block). Plenty of room under there, surprisingly.

About 14" up is fine.

Remove spark plugs so you don't break one.
Passenger side, remove starter.
Driver's side, remove clutch linkage and dipstick. Also, unplug the temp gauge sender (but don;t forget to hook it back up, ask me how I know).

You may have to trim the bolts that hold the sidepipes to the frame so the trim will go back on. Also, if the pull the rear wheel, it is easy to slide the rocker trim piece back in place.
