Default 68 rookie question

I dont know much about C3's......In 1968 were all 350 hp cars manual transmission? Thanks

Yes. That is not to say that there may not have been a COPO car that was an auto, or some really high up exec looking for a drag car. But standard ordering was only a wide or close ratio 4 sp with the 350 hp.

I'm sure the automatic could be ordered. I could be wrong though.

There are a few documented L-88's with the automatic so I don't see why someone could not order the auto in the 350HP car.

Thanks, I found a 68 for sale with 327 and automatic trans. So now I can assume its a 300 hp car?

Yes. I've never seen or heard of an auto 350 hp '68 or '69. BTW, my '68 L-79 had factory M-21 close ratio and 3.08 rear gears. What a dog. Has 3.55's now. Much better.

It's probably a base engine car (300hp), but don't assume anything. Run the numbers.

If it still has the original carb, check the numbers. 7028219 was for the L-79 in '68. Also, the L-79 had chrome valve covers vs. orange for the base motor. I have never seen an L-79 with an auto.
