Yes. That is not to say that there may not have been a COPO car that was an auto, or some really high up exec looking for a drag car. But standard ordering was only a wide or close ratio 4 sp with the 350 hp.

I'm sure the automatic could be ordered. I could be wrong though. There are a few documented L-88's with the automatic so I don't see why someone could not order the auto in the 350HP car.

If it still has the original carb, check the numbers. 7028219 was for the L-79 in '68. Also, the L-79 had chrome valve covers vs. orange for the base motor. I have never seen an L-79 with an auto.
