Default C3 Throttle Cable Replacement

I have a problem with the throttle cable sticking when I punch it to the floor. I let up on the gas pedal and it keeps pulling hard. I have to kick the pedal hard 3 or 4 times before it goes back to normal. I have checked the return springs and even installed some with a little more pull then the original. It still sticks sometimes ? I noticed that the cable at the carb is loose and , I tried moving the cable sheeth back and forth and reclamped it but this does not help. I plan to replace the cable, any suggestions on how to do this? I believe to replace the cable you remove the two bolts holding the gas pedal to the firewall, is this correct? As you are all aware there is no room whatever under the dash And hopefully I can get the pedal off. Any assistance , advise would be greatly appreciated.
Best Regards

Don't remove the peddle, just the cable on the connecting rod, much easier. No, there is not much room, patience grasshopper. Did you check the linkage at carb for hitting on the drop base, (if you changed the carb). Don't use real heavy springs, it makes the throttle stiff and not smooth through the peddle range.

Thanks for the quick response, how is the cable attached to the gas pedal rod ?, I can't see the end where it is connected? I resrored the Vette and have been driving it for about 8 months already it just started giving me problems . It is not hitting anywhere on the carb, the springs are not real strong because I didn't want to are out the shafts. If I can get my hand in enough to reach the top of the mounting bracket can I slip off the cable or will it require tools? It appears I can remove the two bolts holding on the pedal assembly fairly easy?, you said not to do this, why? what problems may I incure if I do? Thanks Again, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd say disconnect it from the carb, if you say you can get to the 2 bolts holding the pedal, remove them then pull the whole pedal down and the cable should be attached with a clip to the pedal. Just to be sure, when you disconnect the cable from the carb, make sure it's not the throttle shaft itself hanging up on the carb. I've had that happen where the carb sitting on a bench would hang wide open. Would have been nice to know that before I installed it on the car!
