Default Chevrolet history

Just curious if anyone else is interested in Automobile/ Chevrolet history?

Fact or fiction? Did Arthur and Louis Chevrolet ever design a Chevy?

What is the origination of the "Bowtie?"

I will answer later tonight.

I thought the "Bowtie" was a design on wallpaper from a hospital room, at least that's the story I heard.

False. They built/ designed aftermarket speed parts for Fords. When Durant wanted to start a new company for GM, he hired them for their Name. (Kinda a Carrol Shelby kind of deal)They were famous in racing circles. He bought/stole the rights for their name from them.
They were not pleased with the direction of the company, and returned to racing.

louis wanted the chevrolet to be a luxury car like cadillac an packard. durant told him they were going to make cheap cars that more people could afford. when louis died, he was working at a factory for an hourly wage that had his name on the side of it.

Serioulsy, in 1917 Chevrolet produced its first "V8", a 90 degree overhead valve engine. They produced it for two years and then went back to making the straight six and straight four for the smaller sized cars. The first small block V8 made its debut in 1955 in none other than the Corvette. 265 CID of pure muscle.
