Add on L-88 to your hood???
Anybody ever add on one of these aftermarket L-88 scoops to your hood? What kind of problems would you run in to. This one is 49 inches long by 27 1/2 wide. I dont think the shape of my 75 hood will let this size work with out major cuting of the hood. PS, right now I cant afford an aftermarket hood. Thought I would try this if it would work.

Does anyone know exactly how they measure the riase of these scoops? I mean they are advertised as 4" is this 4" higher than stock or just 4" tall. Not sure I explained that correctly. If the scoop is 27 1/2" wide than it will fit on the side of the factory scoop that is there already, this will lower the scoop by 2", so I guess what I am asking is, is the total heigth 4" or 6" of the scoop shown?

that picture kinda seems like its gonna look really mis proportioned, I could be wrong, but it seems like for how short it is, your gonna have a big hump right near the windshield and nothing towards the front of the hood...maybe you can cut it in half and just add fiberglass to lengthen it out for a longer hood

Remember that the hood sits on the car at a forward slope. When placed on the hood, the rake in the scoop will match that of the hood a lot better and not seem so bumped up.

After hearing horror stories about ill fitting aftermarket L-88 hoods, I ordered a generic scoop from one of the fiberglass parts vendors to mold to my stock hood.
The fit was way off, these scoops are flat whereas our hoods are not.
Long story short, sent it back and ordered one from Eklers. Their scoops are contoured to the vette hood. Just laying it on for a test fit left almost no gaps. Made for an easy install. Now this is on a '72, your milage may vary
