Hi guys. I have a copy of Photoshop CS2 installed and ready to go. I have opened it once to update it, but never tried using it. I have no clue where to begin.
I want to learn how to make animated GIFs.
Who can walk me through it?
I will have the images I want to use in a folder all by themselves and ready to go.
Hey Durango... I picked up a copy of (Photoshop CS2, Classroom in a book) at Costco this weekend. Costco sells it for 28.99 and is listed at 49.99 on the back cover The book comes with a CD and works you through every chapter with lessons... Looks like the go!!! Oh, the book is written by ADOBE!!! I have already read the first chapter and must report... Looks great!!! Can't wait for the CD! Muddy

From: Who says "Nothing is impossible" ? I've been doing nothing for years.
Not even sure you can make an animated gif in PS. Anyway there is nice little program you can probably get for free call Gif Animator, pretty straight forward and easy to use. PS has a very steep learing curve

I've only used it to pull animated gifs apart, but I think Imageready is better built to handle that kind of thing. It installs with photoshop, so you should already have it. Every frame of the animation will be saved as a seperate layer and there will be a seperate window that lets you specify the frame rates and that kinda stuff. I know they added support for animated gifs in one of the later photoshop versions, but I'm sure how developed the feature actually is.
Image ready is what you need to use.
Just be wary that Photoshop will require you to register with ADOBE. If your serial numbers are used by someone else there could be a problem. When you boot up for the first time you usually are required to register before you can use the program. One way around this is to disconnect your modem when you boot up PS so Adobe's servers don't detect 2 copies in use at the same time. Not like the good old days of being able to make copies without any problems. Just thought you guys should be aware of this.

Don't worry, none of us have the same serial number, and each can register in their own name and receive updates.

Mate, that's a heavy duty program that's probably a bit OTT for making animated gifs. I've never used Photoshop to do that, I use a simple little program called GIF Construction Set Professional by a mob called Alchemy Mindworks. It's real easy to use, far easier than Adobe would be... (IMHO of course)

Hmm...I have a Microsoft GIF animator right now that I've been playing with and it seems very dated and I cannot make high resolution GIFs. The images always end up very grainy.
