Default jacking procedure

73 l-48 coup
have had car for a yr. but have not had to do any work on it until now. would like to know the best way to put it on jack stands without
doing any damage to the frame etc. should i jack, using two floor jacks, one side at a time, positioning the floor jack nearest each tire on the frame and slide the jack stands under it and them move to the other side? i do not want to do any damage to the frame or swist the frame in anyway. i know that this might be a stupid question but i just want to do it right. any and all feedback appreciated. thanks

i dont think it matters going up but comming back down it would b better to hav 2 people and 2 jacks to lower the front L and R at the same time and the back L and R, if you dont your tiers will b kind of pushed in bc of the suspention bringing the wheels slightly in, when it hits the ground it puches the back out just a BIT and the tiers cant move bc or the pressure on the if youve only got one jack its ok just take her for a drive with a few curves to get the stress off the wheels again

If raising all four corners I jack the back up first with one jack on each side. I put a jackstand just in front of the rear tire where frame goes up and the crossmember is welded. Mine has a plate welded at this joint.

I then jack the front up - again using 1 jack on each side. I put the jack stands either on the frame near the radiator or on a crossmember.

I tend to go overboard with jack stands and fit as many under the car as I can and still have room to work. I don't want to try and bench press my Vette.

I don't have any problems opening and closing my doors when on jack stands.

When lowering I reverse the procedure. The rear wheels will be leaned in at the bottom when you lower them back on the ground. If you don't drive the car right away, I would move the car back and forth to allow the tires to straighten out and allow the suspension to settle.

I always pop/remove my t-tops before jacking. I've heard stories about cracked tops. I'm not sure if the stories are skewed or not, but I don't want to find out either.

Only going to happen if your frame and/or birdcage are dangerously rotted.
