Damn you can always tell an original from the repops. The repops do not fit NEAR as well as the original... Seems like they all have high spots or gaps in the lines. They do look cool though and I will be getting one.

That goes for almost anything Vette related.

I disagree, I used repro from Ecklers and love the fit. It took minimal tweaking and one shim...

Sure did, thanks. I always get a kick out of a surprise photo!

Can't wait to post some new ones with the 502 finished off.

Skunk, I think ajrothm was just making a general observation. I too have an Eckler hood on Project RamJet and it is alot better than most of the stuff I have seen out there. I purchased mine back when Eckler actually made them. Now, unless things have changed recently, they get them from Corvette Image who I understand purchased Ecklers tooling?? Based on my experience (albeit small ) I would definitly spend the extra bucks and go with Corvette Image. Although, someone told me they have a long lead time. It's part to part variablity that is what eats the onesie-twosie aftermarket houses lunch.
Having said all that, Those still don't match the quality of the original GM (Rockwell) hoods, If you lay them side by side, you will definitly be able to tell the difference. No way in hell I would pay the prices they are asking for one of the original hoods though.

Mine also is Eckler's but it took a little massaging by the body shop for it to fit correctly.

Good point Bullshark, I posted to give props to Eckler's but it may have been blind luck that everything fit so well. That's the variable of a thirty five year old car.

Mine was Vanacor's and it fit very well in the initial test fit. If I remember right it's also the cheapest place to get them. I had to wait three weeks, but it was only $80 freight too.

Not sure, but I've been told that mine is "probably" an ecklers... The fit is decent... but by no means factory.

Only the real nit-pickers notice, and I usually just tell them to shut the h*ll up.

Vanacors is only 30 minutes up the road from me. I have one on order from them now. I'll keep you guys posted on how well it fits.
