Most aircraft use a countersunk rivet to bond skin to frame

They are called, simply enough, "solid rivets".

As mentioned above, solid rivets, but the style is 'Round Head.'

There are a lot of different styles of solid rivets, and most are flush or countersunk.

i just searched through mcmaster and found them...

next question is the tool needed

what i plan on doing is bonding 1/16 or 1/8 aluminum with leather..... space would be limited since i'm making a bag line for my clothing line... so picture a thin box that is about 2-3" wide and 12" tall..... the thin sides are aluminum and the front/back will be leather..... so i would need to figure out how to rivot the lower rivots once it is assembled.... unless i can figure out another way of doing that detail...i want to stay with rivots for the look of my :2:37am: line......

i want to prototype all my work myself so the detailing is important....

duh...

i can just rivot on the outside instead of trying to use the tool on the inside...that is if the rivot looks the same from both ends after install... i would need the better side on the outside...

is there any other tools that would help in this process.... for instance i seen a tool the you need to use a hammer to flatten the rivot... and the air ones seem the have to wrap on both side of the rivot.... any ideas

www.bylerrivet.com....you are looking for "blind" or "mating" rivets.

Alloy / Material steel, brass plated
Diameter of Body 5/32"
Head Diameter 5/16" (.312)
Head Style oval hd.
Length of Body 13/64"

http://www.bylerrivet.com/view_detai...46&to=category
will get you to a pic of "tubular" rivets...
good luck
