Thinking about replacing non-working gauges (all) in the center bezel on 71 coupe. Speedo and tach still work. Should I go custom or stay "original"? Kind of partial to the phantom white style gauges. Any advice?
if your cars original i'd say; stay original.
But, it's your car so do what you like.
I love the factory guage setup on corvette's, there's just somthing very strange about 70's cars withe white face guages

A lot of guys have done this, and a search will provide you with lots of info and pics. Click on search, click on advanced search, and then at the bottom click archives, and on the left, select C3 Corvettes 1068-1982. That'll get you loads of threads to read through.
Here's a link to white face gage installation. I agree with Deron it's your car, make yourself happy. Sounds like you have a bad ground causing all your gages to not work. http://earchitect.50megs.com/corvette/gauge.htm

And this is all you need to install, They drop right in if you just massage the opening for the gauges a little!
