Did any one notice how much the Last Corvette went for at Barrett Jackson. I tivoed nearly all the auctions and never saw the 67 Vet go by. Thanks Bob.

$600 K...way below Pro-Team expectations...they bought it for $239 K..then did a hasty restoration...only can guess how much that cost as some parts were donated by vendors..

...helluva lot of money for the Last Restamped '67...
I think Barrett Jackson has gotten out of hand. Seems they are looking at junk to try and make their fortune. I just love the expression on there faces when they don't come close to their expectations.
Here we go with another Barrett-Jackson thread!
I've got a couple opinions on it:
1) Yes, there is some involved. Lots of us saw it last month. i.e. cars leaving the block still being bid on, etc . Leaves a lot of unanswered questions.
on the other hand...
2) Since it on TV, it's all about promotion. The Last Sting Ray was a good "hook" for veiwers(I watched it sell, and I thought it'd go to a million!). Additionally, I don't think it's going to hurt the values of our Vette's either! If they've found a market for what they're doing, more power to them! I can't argue with American capitalism, it's what makes this a great country.
All in all, after all the talk and this year, we'll see what happens. Will BJ come up with more gimmicks? Probably! Will it fall by the wayside...doubt it. It will be interesting to see as time progresses...

I was surprised it didn't go for more also, I thought it was restored to high degree but maybe not, it makes you wonder I also wasn't impressed with the "BIG SELLER" of the show. I don't mean the car itself but the auction for it. When Ferrari Boy bought the Olds concept a few years ago it was genuinly interesting to watch. They keep trying to do better and although the dollers have gone up it hasen't been as entertaining.
Can we please at least here in C-3 not call it the last "CORVETTE" for cripes sake??? What the heck do we own? I am not even that thrilled about calling it the last STING . . RAY (two words). I prefer Paul's nomenclature..
Here is a little piece from the 1968 corvette brochure, published by Chevrolet:
That's kind of funny. I missed it by about 20 minutes and had wanted to see it. Is it just me or does the Pro-Team guy come off a little wrong on TV?
It's not just you - He comes off wrong in every interview (televised or written) that I've ever read. As immature as it sounds, I was pleased to see this car NOT bring what they were hoping.
...wonder if they ever ante'd up and paid the $5,000 to the person that had the closest guess to the final bid price in that contest that they were holding???

You beat me to it. I saw the title to this thread (again! ) and thought, "I'm pretty sure they're still making Corvettes."
Great find on the misspelled '68 advertisements...
