Personally, I think NASCAR is a joke. Camry, Taurus, Monte Carlo, aren't these front wheel drive cars. What's with that? It was much better in the "old" days when the cars on the track were a much closer copy of the cars on the road. Back then, it was said that who won on Sunday sold on Monday. Now, who cares.
I have just one thing to say...doesn't the S.C. in NASCAR stand for STOCK CAR?!
His team was caught cheating. It didn't need to be a long term horsepower boost. It was for his qualifying attempt. It was disappointing to see him slip the blame to an unamed individual member on his team. Everyone on the team, including him, new it was there. Some get caught, others don't. He did and Nascar made an example out of him:o
They punish the crew chief for any infractions to avoid tarnishing the image of the "heroes" that are selling t-shirts & hats every week. Sure, everyone on the team knows whats going on, but someone has to be the fall guy.
"According to one source, the entire fuel system of Waltrip's car had been packed with the fuel additive polypropylene oxide, a performance-enhancing oxidant."
It was found in the fuel tank, lines, etc.
We may never find out the real truth on this, makes you wonder if the whole import introduction has all of the "good ol boys" of Nascar up in arms about soiling the tradition of Nascar... some of the early drivers were involved with boot legging and "modifying" their cars, I'm sure they all had some tricks they used.....jmo
Alot of die haed fans are very upset with the admission of Toyota.
Kind of like" The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim." It's all about the $
I;m NOT a die-hard fan and I'm a bit po'd. Are they using FRONT WHEEL DRIVE? I don't think that Toyota produces a RWD car they sell in the US. (I might be wrong, let me know).
But on the flip side of that, I'm a bit peeved at NHRA too. When Alderman was popped several years ago, NHRA said he was done- forever. Look at him now.
Looks like the usual stuff- a nice fat checkbook can fix about anything.
It Was NOT jet fuel, Pemberton said that in the press conference, but stupid un-educated reporters chose not hear it. "Cheating" as some would call it, is not really cheating, it's getting around lame *** NASCAR rules. Run what ya brung! Should be the moto and most of the old school will tell you the same. Way too many tech rules have sanitized the sport, most 1 1/2 mile tracks are boring races to watch, like CA.
I do agree with the Alderman comment, he should be banned, that was dope.
I'm not a NASCAR freak or anything, but do like a good race and support my drivers sponsors. Racing and hockey are the only good guy sports left. JMO
i think nascar has too many regulations and rules. the teams should be able to do anything that gives them an upperhand in the race.
Unfortunately, NASCAR reached a point where the team with the most money had the advantage. Leveling the playing field has become necessary. What other sport do you know of where the opposing teams get to play by different rules?

The Chevy MonteCarlo and the Ford Fusion are FWD. Only the Charger is a RWD. Oh, wait, the Charger is produced by a German company. Guess Toyota is the second overseas manf in NASCAR
Yeah yeah yeah And Fords are made in Mexico and Chevys are made in Canada. The only part of these cars that's brand specific are the decals.
Back in the day, the real race ended at the white flag. Then, miraculously, the local favorite would push through the pack to take the checkered flag. The track owners arranged this to sell tickets. It made sense and it worked. Today, NASCAR makes things so evenly matched that it's anyone's race. There's a LOT of luck involved, and it makes for a little better viewing, and better competition.
I do wish that the drivers were allowed to speak their minds, vent a little anger, throw some punches, and get a little revenge once in a while. Those generic "Oh well, there's always next week" speeches just don't satify.
Monte Carlo FWD V8 built in Canada
Charger RWD V8 built in Canada
Fusion FWD V6 built in St Louis or Mexico?
Camry who cares?
The only factory production parts on any of these Nascar race cars is the trunk lid !EVERYTHING else including the engine is a fabricated race car piece built in the good ole USA by Americans(with Chinese castings and forgings of course),sad to say the Toyota race car is just as American as any of the other makes.Except for the the engine itself, all the makes are built identically, using the exact same parts as their competitors! The only thing that separates Toyota and Daimler-Chrysler from Ford and GM is the final cheque signing authority for their Nascar efforts come from overseas, not from Detroit.
However,Toyota stock cars still don't sit right with me either...
Here's what I've heard was used. definitely not an innocent mistake. If Nascar was a real business and held people to contracts or Toyota had ***** this team would be gone.
Propylene oxide is a highly toxic flammable chemical compound. Its major industrial use is as the monomer used in the production of polypropylene oxide (polypropylene glycol). It was once used as a racing fuel, but that usage is now prohibited under the US NHRA rules for safety reasons. It is also used in thermobaric weapons. It is an epoxide.
"For a while, it looked as if James Hylton, the 72-year-old hoping for a comeback at Daytona, would make the field for his first Daytona 500 since 1983. After running as high as second by staying on the track when others pitted during a caution, he got shuffled back on a late restart and faded out of contention."
