I would like to install hooker headers w/sidepipes on my '74,but would like to meet someone that has them on their vette somewhere in the houston area so I can listen to the rumble.I know that they are not cheap so I would just like to hear them to make sure I want them. any advice would be welcomed on how they would look and sound on my vette.
I didnt even know they had different mufflers for side pipes!
Hooker sells 3 types:
"Reverse flow": They are basically a MUFFLER and very restrictive.
"Glass Pack": OK sound but also restrictive.
"Max Flow": NO restriction to speak of, but loud nice BB sound.
The other popular muffler is a "Spiral Turbo Type".: No restriction and nice sound. If you do a forum search, there was a thread a couple weeks ago that had a sound bit with it.
I'd say buy the Hooker side pipes then play with the different mufflers to find the sound you want.

Except you forgot one.
"No Muffler" that's what I'm running for now- and it's really loud!

Had these in when I bought the car. So restrictive that it defeated the purpose of headers, & so quiet that it didn't even sound like I had sidepipes. Sounded like the original exhaust system.
STS baffles going in now!!!!
