chrome headers-change color?

chrome headers-change color?
will a set of chrome hooker headers change color and will the side pipes change?
i cant decide between the metallic ceramic and chrome, what are your opinions between the two?

Chrome headers will turn blue and gold from heat. This usually dosen't get as far as the collector/side pipe. The bike guys have a polish that is supposed to work well to clean them up.
If you drive your car in the rain, water gets in between the pipes and causes rust. Haven't used the polish, but coated seem much easier to live with if you drive it. /:\

Jet-Hot has a ceramic coating that has a higher shine to it, almost like chrome
. That way you'll have the best of both.
As for the color change it depends on you engine combo and how you use it. I've seen some with hardly any color change but they were fairgroud cruisers, and some that changed all the way to the coupling. For the most part though you're not likly to see any past there because of the muffler.

the reason motorcycle pipes blue when u put aftermarket headers on them is because they don't rejet the carbs to compensate for the freer flowing exhaust. that is what a motorcycle mechanic told me.it may not be altogether true

So if i were to just go with the chrome(cheaper) with a stock engine i shouldnt have any problems. a guy at autozone told me that you can put some coating on the inside to keep them from turning blue, im not sure if thats true or not.

yes chrome turns colors as soon as u start your engine up the 1st time, ask me how i know. just got these from Jethot last friday. thats the sterling finish, just what u want. u buy them direct from jethot for your best price. just send an email to: todd@jet-hot.com or call (800) 432-3379 to get your total price w/shipping. tell Todd Ross sent you. i've also got the STS baffles in mine. the chrome set costs more than the sterling finish set and the sterling finish lasts many more years. i love chrome but NOT on my headers.
