Default shipping a vette

Anyone have experience with shipping a car after purchase? I'm looking at buying a vette on the east coast and shipping it back to the Austin TX area. Just looking for reasonable priced / reputable firm. Hoping for $600 - 800 range for enclosed car carrier.

Thanks, -F

I hate to say it, but you won't get enclosed that cheap, unless the "east coast" you're talking about is Georgia or somewhere fairly close to you.
A fellow forum member just purchased my 73 and got it shipped enclosed from Ft Laud, FL to Cincinnati area for $1100. 600-800 is more of an open trailer price. The carrier I just mentioned is Bill Demoise Trucking 864-609-9390- and they did a great jobgetting the car picked up and delivered in 4 days.

Not going to happen at the price.
I paid $1625 for enclosed from WI. to MD.
You get what you pay for.

Where is the car located? I have one waiting to be picked up in NC heading to Dallas. Reliable Carriers - enclosed for $1050.

Thanks all, now I have a level set on what it will cost.
Its in the NY area. I gave a thought to driving it back for split second.. .. but not that distance .. and with all the winter crud on the road up there..

I keep telling people this, I used Hilton auto transport, they kept in contact with me,so did the driver, very very good to deal with. It was an open trailer, but reasonable...888-318-0080

A covered will cost around 1 grand, I was going to use FedEx for about 1070.00 from WI to MD. That fell through because of weather and that Barrett Jackson auction, or whatever the name is. I didn't want to wait for another week so I went with Enclosed Vehicle Transport for 1300.00 He usually hauls 2 at a time. It was actually a higher quote but I worked him to 1300.00, which isn't cheap but it was quick notice...Im sure there are cheaper but as some said, you get what you pay for.

I found their website. Thanks. It seems all the reputable firms are around 1500 for an enclosed trailer and the 1700 miles it will have to travel. (around 1000 on an open trailer)...

I found a nice car hauler trailer around my area with a winch for 1600 obo.. but with gas and lodging it would end up being considerably more.. although I would end up with a nice trailer out of the deal. But..I'll prally leave it to the pros. I think the car is worth it.

Hey brother I used EVT too, but there were issues with his truck being there ontime for me, so I let him use another enclosed shipper he uses from time to time.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Believe it or not FedEx is not too bad with just under $1500 for door to door enclosed transport and 100k $0 deductible insurance included. (The truck upper / lower floors are solid as well )

I looked at renting a truck / trailer one way.. Somewhere around $3500 from uHaul. Haven't checked others yet. Flying to the NY area from Austin is definitely nowhere near $99... (at least flying out over a weekend next weekend)... I used my AA miles though..

Talked with someone in Austin that used a broker. Said it was a nightmare and took 3 months to get his car here (for $800).

I'm going to give road scholar a call.

I used Weber Transports to have one transported from AZ to OK. Enclosed, fast (not the month long waits that sometimes happen with the larger transporters, since they'll wait until they have a full load), and J.R. kept in contact with me along the way. Approx. $800, but this was several years ago when fuel was a lot cheaper. Extremely pleased with the whole experience and would use him again.

Did you have any problems?
They did the same thing to me, but the guy they used, they use often. They told me he was reliable and he was. The bonus was he uses a single vehicle enclosed trailer, the whole trip. No oil drips or other issues.

P.S. Nice weather's coming!!!!
