Just removed, cleaned, oiled and re-installed my '72 original mechanical dash clock. I also burnished the winding contacts and now the clock works great - but it's beginning to work a little too good. I'm gaining about 5 minutes every three days. I didn't see any way to adjust the clock's movement - does anyone know of a way to adjust these mechanical clocks? The dial face looks good and the hands look good so I can't see spending a lot on unecessary upgrades. I would like to keep it original (I know I could purchase a quartz rebuilt kit).

Have you ever heard the "click" sound the clock makes every minute or so? Thats the spring being re-tightend. Find out exactly the amount of time for this click. You need to turn the **** back half a turn or so right when you hear the click. This adjusts the spring to slow it down. Do just the opposite if it runs fast. It's kind of tricky but this is how to adjust it!
I know about the "click". Once I cleaned everything up and oiled it, I connected a 12volt battery charger to the clock and watched it operate. Which **** are you referring to? The time set ****, or another **** inside the clock's mechanism?
