Think I overcooked it a bit........
Currently, It starts and idles very well. Let it warm up and set off for the gas station.
Those exhausts are NOISY.. want to keep the looks but maybe drop in some expansion boxes or secondary mufflers.
Starting hot at the gas station, it hesitated a little, timing too advanced - guessing 3 or 4 degrees.
Regardless, off for a spin out in the countryside - where the exhaust noise would not kill children.
Pottered along very sedately at just over 1,000 revs. Engine having done about 7 miles by now, thought I might just do a little test, at about 20 mph, manually dropped it into second and gave it about 3/4 juice. Was up to 60 mph pretty quick, but not in a rapid way, secondaries did not kick in.
Seems OK so far. Tailpipe colour OK at the moment.Suppose rings will take 200 miles to really bed in and then I can do a few more things.
Rear spring is now too low with the weight of a full tank, etc. so will pick up a fibreglass spring on my travels.
Despite high compression, no pinging to be heard. No flat spots, etc, in fact ran really sweetly as far as I can tell.
Performance tests will have to wait till I get back from Florida in April.
Hope its all running as you want it to...get us an in car vid!..
Cheers buddy.
