I know that I am gonna get some REALLY different answers to this question, but here it goes. I am wanting to buy a corvette in June, so when should I start looking for one. I know some people will say to be looking always, and I agree. I don't have the money right now, but I do have about $1,000 to $1500 to put down as a deposit to show that I am serious. I'm scared no one will want to hold a vette for a long time for me, so what should I do. When should I start looking? Thanks for any help.

There is probably no better time than now to start looking. The problem is nobody is going to want to wait for their money unless you can find a fixer upper and as you get more money start to restore it. Buying a fixer upper will give you a chance to learn everything about your car and everyone on the forum will be there to help you along the way. If you just want to get a ready to drive vette you may have to get someone to co-sign a loan for you.Just my opinion. Good shopping

To be honest with you, wait until you get about $5K saved up and then start looking for a decent running project car.

with clarification. i am in the same position (sort of) as i'm looking to add a C5 in the near future, and have a friend who will be selling his at about the same time, and i'm about 75% there cash wise i guess.

the reason to look yesterday if for no other reason is to gauge the market and get a real good feel for what it will cost you to get what you want (or to actually figure what you're going to get for what you can afford). unless you have a friend or relative who has something you are looking for just sitting in their garage and isn't in a hurry for the cash to roll into something else, no seller is going to be willing to "float" your purchase for any extended period of time. even a serious downpayment (cash-wise) will probably do little to make a seller hang on longer than a week or so.

try to imagine yourself as a seller and either in need or want of the cash from the sale. i doubt you'd be willing to wait beyond a reasonable time to finish the transaction.

just my opinion, however.

I am looking for a project car to restore. I don't really care if it runs or not. I actually want it to be a no engine or trans car. I think I will wait until I have more money before posting a WTB ad. Thanks for the help.
