What are these frame tabs for?

Default What are these frame tabs for?
Looking at pics of a car for sale, I saw these frame tabs. It is on a 73. Are these supposed to be there. What are they for? One is on the front and one on the back of the driver's side.

I just ran out and looked at my '73. No such tabs on it. Might be an owner installed option.

looks like tack welds along the length of the frame

Put the side pipes on and you wont see them.

The car has had some bodywork in the past. I had the owner take some pics of the frame to see if it had been hit. What do you think of the frame?
