Default Jack stands? What do you use?

I was thinking about getting something like these

http://www.speedwaymotors.com/p/2624...No=JACK+STANDS

I don't like regular stands. They don't seem strong enough.

I still need to able to access suspension parts and remove tires also.

I have 3-ton stands like the ones in the picture. They work fine, are adjustable, and dont sink!!!!

Just bolt or weld flat foot plates on the standard style stands for the same non-sinking effect. They are still adjustable, and can be used more places than just frame. The one linked has a very long broad apex that would be hard to position correctly under most suspension components. It'll slip off of axles, and you lose versatility of variable height.

I have a concrete driveway so mine won't sink.

Edit: My driveway is concrete too, Plus I work on it in the garage.

I do too

They just don't seem stable

They seem like I'm risking my life when I use them

The ones pictures seem a bit safer.

I picked these up recently from Home Depot under the Husky brand. I liked these for the double-locking design. Normal ratchet and a safety pin.

It seems like those don't hold the frame very good though.

I was just in Wal-mart and they have GM goodwrench 3-ton stands with the little plates already welded on. They look identical to the orange ones except they were painted #3 black.

I have those too...they work great but they do sink in soft material like dirt or gravel. A full foot plate would solve that but that's an extreme case where you don't ever have a solid surface to work on.

On a side note, I have NEVER had a jack stand fail or lose the supported object.

Why do you ask questions like this? You know you have already decided to get them. So just get them! Besides, you know those are better than regular stands because they have "racing" in the name.

Good old fashioned wooden timbers. Wood doesn't slip like steel on steel does.

I've also got the ones from HF. Inexpensive and work just fine.

16 Ton's and what do you get another day oh sorry something just came over me lol. I Like those Chrome ones they are pretty. But I use the 6 ton Jack Stands you can set them low or set them up pretty high and I just feel better with something that is rated 6 Ton's .
