Default Chromed some parts.

I chromed a few things back in the '80's. Someone asked for a picture of my engine compartment awhile back. So today I got it out and took some of it in the sunlight and at night. Which one do ya like the best? Have anybody else done this? At the time it was fun but now it's a pain to clean. I'd rather be driving it. But I thought you guys might like to see what happens when you have an obsession. I need to get it up on a hoist and get a picture cuz I did the underneath also.

I like the photo in the daytime.

One of the items I like is the chrome air cleaner top and the ring. Maybe not the whole air cleaner assembly, but just a touch of chrome like the top and ring.

    Looks clean and shiny though.

The day time photos. Love the looks of the chrome, but it definitely adds alot of time to detailing the Vette! Must have cost a pretty penny.

In reply to BLACKHORSEVET, Yeah I just noticed how bad those headers are. They have been on the car for about 20 years now. I didn't realize how bad they were until I took the picture. Looks like maybe next year we send them off and get them coated. Who does a nice job? :o

You got a lot of $$ tied up in chrome. I like to look at it but wouldn't want to clean it.

To BLACKHORSEVET, I know you were joking. I just hadn't realized how bad they were until you said something. I agree they are a looking real ugly. So I'm going to have to do something about it. I remember a post a while back about sidepipes and the different types of coatings some of them had. I'll have to try and find it and get to planing on coating those things next year. Like I said I did this to the car in the '80's so some of it needs touched up. But thanks for pointing it out.

I like Jet Hot. They did a great job with my ceramic coating. Thats what I would do your headers in. Its not as clear and flashy as chrome but it will last longer and help with heat. Its like a foggy chrome look. If you just want them chromed, look local.
