30K into a body off and I up to the steering column. I don't want to try restore it myself. I would much rather ship it to someone and have it return as a bolt on restored peice, like I did with the rear, trailing arms, the tranny and other stuff. Does anyone know of a place I could get this done.
Questions: What needs fixing on your column? Standard (non-adjustable or T&T)? Do you expect someone to repaint it as well?
Unless the tilting feature appears to be loose. The turn signals don't cancel or work properly. The hazard warning **** is missing. The horn won't honk (and you have traced the problem to the column). I am wondering exactly what would need to be fixed.

They are not cheap but they do very good work.

Hey Jim,
Thanks for your responce. It's not that anything was broken, per say. The car was a basket case, So the column I should say has to be reconditioned, It's rusty and has a bad finish.
Unlike the drive train pieces that you shipped out for rebuild, the steering column doesn't really require any unique tools to dissassemble or restore. Don't be afraid to tackle the rebuild yourself. Most all the parts for '69 and later columns are commonly available. Jim Shea has provided some very informative documentation to help. Of course every one has their own feelings about what they want to tackle themselves and what they don't.
I think that you can most likely rebuild your steering column and save a considerable amount of money while learning how to stuff 5 lbs of crap into a 2 lb bag. The Saginaw columns are quite clever in how they perform all of their functions in such a compact area.
I would be most concerned with corrosion on the column parts that are out under the hood. There is a lower bearing that has been exposed to the elements that might need replacing.
BTW, you still didn't mention if you had a standard (non-adjustable) column or a T&T. I have quite complete instructions on removing the column from the car and disassembling either of the columns to make repairs.
Let me know what type of column and I can provide a listing of download instructions. The instructions are quite wordy, but they are very complete.
Good luck, additional assistance is only a computer click away,
Jim
