Personally, I've never seen any difference in plugs. Years ago I worked in a JC Penney auto center (before they did away with them), and used Penney brand plugs (made for them by Prestolite). I never saw any difference in performance or how long they lasted. The secret is to get the right heat range application.
One mechanic friend at the time swore by Champions for a small block and AC plugs for a big block. That was his preference. He also raced and based his obervations on that.
My Corvette friends all seem to agree that AC Delco is the way to go, regardless of what year or model engine.

Spark plugs are critical, I’ve been tuning my vette for the last few months, I had a set of Bosch plugs in it, and I had to make sever mods to the carb to get it to run somewhat ok. The O2 meters were all over the place, pulled the plugs to find them fouled with soot. I did some research on the net to find that NGK is one of the highest ranked plugs for performance with AC Delco Rapid-Fires right up there with them. So I put some AC plugs in and what a difference they did make, now I have to go back and retune the carb all over again. In our small outboards we would see 200 to 300 RPMs just with a plug change to NGK V-groove plugs. So to answer your question I would suggest using AC Delco rapid-Fire plugs, I can personally testify to how big a difference they made in my motor, or NGK plugs.
