Default Radiator support

I am starting the dreaded radiator support replacement. I have a 70 350 SB with 4 speed and A/C. I got the shroud (that was broken, too) and radiator out, that was fun. How is the support attached to the frame and body? How many bolts? It looks likes three on either side, but the top ones look almost impossible to get out. Maybe I'm looking at this wrong! Thanks for the help.

Not positive of 70. Mines a 75. There were some on the bottom through angle supports as wee as the ones you described

I did my 71 and the bottom required 1/2" spacers to match the old support. Check this when you have them both out and compare them. I had a hard time with the fenders and hood until I found this out.

You've got it right. Two large bolts on bottom. Two small bolts on either side. The upper bolts will require a box end hand wrench If memory serves. Soak'em in a penetrating oil first.

And don't forget to remove the ground wire attached to the support on the driver's side about half way down on the side facing the nose. If I remember correctly it requires a 5/16 socket to remove it, that's how it was on mine anyway, not sure if your's is the same but check to be sure before pulling out the support. I didn't see it on mine and almost ripped it out when I did mine. The top bolts on the side require patience and a box wrench to get them out because the hood hinge bolts are blocking it so that you can't get a socket on them. I backed out the one bolt enough to clear the socket and took them out that way. Just remember to tighten them back up when you put the support back in.

Thanks, I guess it's just a miserable job. Hopefully I can finish it tonight.
