Default Forget floor jacks and stands

Just put the whole dang thing in the vice. Much easier.

Sure wish we could do this. Can't find a big enough vice.

Terrific Ad-VICE! It would have to be a really BIG vise!

But will my hood still close with this vice in place? Should I remove the T-tops to avoid any potential cracking? Will the exhaust be too loud with both clamps on? Can I still pass smog? Is this a numbers-matching vice? Has anybody here ever tried using a four-sided vice?
Does anyone have a link to a vice site? What if, after I try the vice, I want to return to the stock floor jack and stands? If I do put my car in a vice, what do you think I could get for it if I sell it? I've heard that synthetic-metal vices grip better and with less abrasion than regular iron vices--is that true? Will having my car in a vice give me better or worse ET's at the track? I've read that the new C7 has the biggest vice ever attached to an American-made automobile; should I wait to get one of those instead?

DOH!! Worse obviously !! You would probably have increased the weight of the car by a factor of 3 without even considering the drag factor

Somebody told me that drilling holes in your vise not only lightens it for a better horsepower/weight ratio, but also makes it look more like a racing vise—has anybody here done that to their vise? Also—can anyone else post pics of their vise, especially if you’ve had it powdercoated—or better yet, chromed? I’d also be interested in knowing about mods you might have made to your vise—wasn’t there an article a while ago in one of the mags about installing a longer handle, with a carbon fiber grip, for better leverage?

I met a guy who claimed he used to own one of these vises back in the ‘60’s—said now he wished he’d never sold it! He also said they were much better made back in those days…

What is it with you guys????? Why is stock never enough for you - always gotta go get the longer handle , bigger this , carbon that . Can't you just leave things the way nature intended??

I asked my mechanic about using a vise, and he says that with our cars, you've gotta run spacers--otherwise (othervise??) the offset between the roof and the bottom of the chassis will be all wrong.

I didn't spot that in Big2Bird's photos, but it's a word to the....wise.
