Default U-joint?

Any reason to buy from a vette vendor or is the local auto parts fine?
Need to replace mine on my half shafts.

I use Spicers and most of the suppliers here do not carry the zerkless ones. I don't care for the cheaper common joints- had them fail. Do it right, spend the extra $10 per joint and get a better one.

This post will help you

I get them from a local parts store...
When I got mine, I got the kind with the grease nipple on them. I was told by ppl on this forum that the kind I got are weaker, and that I should have gotten the solid kind without the grease nipple. I don't know if local parts stores have these solid kind.

I've had the grease nipple type on my car for a few years now with no problems... and I have a motor pushing 530hp. However... I do have safety loops on the half shafts, for the just in case.

If you use the greaseable ones and actually grease them once in a while like most people don't, they will be fine in a street car. If you are taking it to a drag strip, go with the solid spicers.

Vendors are perfect if you want to pay double or more for the same thing. I suspect all they see in us is $$$$$ and dumb customers.

Spicers are great, but a PITA to install. The plastic seals break very easily (even when installed by professionals). Neapco might be better. stay away from zerks.

Call a local Commercial Truck Repair Shop and get a recommendation on the best driveline shop in town. Take the half-shafts off the car and have the driveline shop do the labor. I recommend the Spicer Life u-joints. I was able to save $10 per U-joint vs. buying from the Vette Vendors.
They also have the equipment and skills to avoid bending the flanges.
