Default Car on jackstands

Am I doing any damage by letting the car sit like this, and or jacking it up? Seems to make some unhappy noises! and pass side didnt want to open to easily.

Sounds like you have a weak frame. Mine's been on jackstands for eight months, and it hasn't "tweaked" at all. Radiator support is out, too.

I know the frame is not weak. Jack stands are placed in front of rear tire where frame goes up, behind front tire right where frame curves in.

Your jackstands seem like they are placed OK. But do you have both sides driver and passenger on stands for balance ? I always open the doors a little and unlock the t-tops when I put in on jackstands. just in case.

When I have the car up on stands for any length of time, I remove the rear tires and jack up the trailing arms an put jack stands under them. I have the car up on stands for long periods without any problems.

My stands are in the same place, the car has been on them for eight months with the doors closed and t-tops on. All four still operate fine. Obviously, your car is flexing more than mine.

Only going to matter if you have other conditions that need repair.

The frames are not necessarily weak, but they do flex as they were engineered too. They weren't engineered for sitting on jack stands though, they were engineered to be sitting on 4 wheels.

Any time the car is jacked up...from a corner, side or until it is supported properly on all 4 corners. I know when I have had work or tires checked/changed, I loosen up the t top locks, crack the hood and crack the doors. I have seen someone that did not do this and broke a t top as the frame flexed. Just my 2 cents..

My owners manual says to remove the T tops before jacking the car up.

Missed that one too! I'm sure that back in the day when these cars were built, if it was raining or snowing, you would remove the t-tops if you had to change a flat tire, yeah, right.

I never have had a problem with the body flexing when jacking my car up. I carefully center my jack on either the front crossmember, or underneath the differential to lift the car.
