Going to get a new battery this week for my 72 SB coupe. Any suggestions? Don't care about originality, just want a nice strong battery that easily goes a week or 2 between starts. Thanks, Mick
Most will probably say get an optima red top....I like to stay close to GM originality so I chose an ACDelco 6yr. Great battery, holds a charge for a very very long time.
I would also get a battery charger to keep it fresh.

I run the optima redtop, got a good deal at Costco a year ago.
Durango, whats the gizmo you got there? that power your sound system? I like the tie into the batter terminal, much cleaner then an eye hoop. where'd you get it?

It's just a set of after market battery terminals that have the built in voltage meter. Very handy for knowing what your battery has for a charge. Don't worry, the LCD readout does turn off after a few minutes of no change. If you enact a large draw on the system it will light up and show you what the current reading is. When driving it's always on. when off, it's always off.
I'm pretty sure I found them on Ebay a year ago or so, and I did like the look so I bought the set.

There are basically three manufacturers. I like Delco. Don't be fooled by high CCA. They have more/thinner plates. You do not need that. Get a stock/lower CCA. They last longer.
