Default Is that for anything?

What is the round 14 inch diameter ring in the center of the underside of the hood for? the hood blanket goes arround it, is it part of the Cowel induction or what?, i was thinking putting something in there but wont if it has a function

That is the upper part of a cold air induction system. The original air cleaner assembly had a rubber seal on the upper lid that sealed against the hood.

i was wanting to get a pice of thin metal and hav my girlfriend paint a C3 flag emblem (she's WAY art-sie) and attatch it some way to that, but im guessing it would be a bad idea
