Default Dewitts rad update

Last September I installed a Dewitts rad in the 78 L-82....the install went smooth and learned a little trick to clear lower rad outlet/passenger side A-arm...just remove pass side A-Arm forward bolt/washer and you gain !/2" clearance...(just remember to put bolt/washer back on)...

Anyway, recently we had a few days of hot weather (90-94 F) so I went and exercised the vette,...pulling long hills with A/C on...coolant temps were 190-195 F....just perfect for me.....

Good to hear Rich - my Dewitts radiator and fans are still in the box and I'm probably a year off from finishing my car, but it's good to know they can handle the heat. It will be 95 already this weekend here in the desert.

Be sure to tape cardboard to protect both sides of core/fins at install......(easy to remove after you set it in place)...
For info..I'm running a 180 stat per discussion with Tom Dewitt....I was going to run stock 195 F, but 180 is ok...

I'm running the 78 to Yuma March 31...(April Fool's run)...I'll pm details of how it behaves to you...but I know already it is a winner...

Good advice. Hey I can't get my Vette done in time for that run, but I have considered driving my '67 C-10 stepside out with the ACE group if they don't throw me out the door

By all means...last year a friend from El Centro drove his new Honda truck with us....his vette was not ready...he and his wife joined us for lunch...I'd get a head start on them though...

Good tip on removing the bolt. I considered it last weekend when reinstalling my radiator, but was afraid there wouldn't be clearance to put it back on with the shroud in place, so I did it the hard way. I'll remember that next time.

There was just enough room to get it back in & torque.....I had no choice as I was dropping it in alone.. The "air" was blue till I got smart...
