Back to the topic....never heard of an AMC in 1964 with a Supercharger. But I'm fairly certain the old Studebaker Avanti had one.
Whatever it is it has to be pretty lightweight to do 0-60 in 4.3.
Big2Bird: Was that Chevy truck the BIG 10??? I liked that truck a lot!!! Also the 454SS truck that came out later on. Very
Ford Thunderbolt was a killer strip car. Probably closer to an F/X or early funny car than anything else. They make clones of them like crazy now so the price of a beater 1964 2-door Fairlane is more than most rubber bumper C3 Vettes.
turtle: "When in Rome...etc." I'm sure this will all end by Monday or sooner (I hope!).

I find these numbers interesting. They say the 61 fulie i drove, ran with the high output big blocks and was faster than the 62thru 65 fulie. Of course these numbers are subjective..as we dont know if they were automatics, nor the rearend gearing, ect. I do remember the 61 running very low 14s at just over 100mph. I also remember we (my brother and I) could out run a 4 barrel GTO but not the tri power ones. A turbo corvair spyder could ,and did, outrun 4 barrel,3 speed,57 chevy belairs.

Not much of a hint
Back in those days a LOT of performance cars could be ordered that way. 1964 hottest drag engines:
426 Hemi and Stage 3 wedge
409 Chevy
427 Ford
327 Fuel Injection Vette
Back in 1964 ALL those engines were installed in full size cars with the exception of the Vette. The 1964 427 Thunderbolt was hardly a "production item" and was pretty much custom built. The 389 GTO really wasn't that fast compared to the other three engines.
Lets have the answer please.

You are giving up to easy...but let's start here...
"The story actually begins in late 1963 when Hot Rod Magazine tested a basic 4 barrel, powerglide automatic 1964 GTO and proclaimed the car a slug. Enraged, Pontiac's head of Public Relations, Jim Wangers, stormed into Chief Engineer John Delorean's office and demanded he pick the cars that would go to the press for road tests." (A Pontiac Tempest GTO)
"Wangers ordered the car with all the goodies, including tri-power carburetion, close ratio 4-speed, 3:90 Saf-T-Track rear gears, transistorized ignition and "insulation delete" options.
Here's where the story gets a little fuzzy. Jim Wangers claims the car was shipped directly to dealer # 679 - Royal Pontiac in Royal Oak, Michigan. Others involved with the car at that time claim a 421 Super-Duty motor was covertly installed by Pontiac Engineering prior to shipment to Royal."
The 0-60 times as tested by Car & Driver were 4.3....but references state 4.6....
