Having tuff time getting wiper door to align properly. Opens and closes just fine but final resting spot is not far enough towards windshield,
Any tricks to get the door to align (move towards winshield) would be appreciated. Shims under mounting tabs? Seams like there should be an easier way.
It's been a while since I did this, but if memory serves, there are shims at the base of the hinges where they bolt to the cowl. That will move the wiper door forward. It will also open the gap on the cowl vent panel and you may have to move that up a bit to even the gaps between the vent panel and the wiper door and the vent panel and the trailing edge of the hood.
There must have been some measure used at the factory and to know where to drop the whole assem for the correct fit.
When I removed for frame off, it fit fine and there were no shims. Now the car is back together and I removed again to do some additional detail work when winshield was replaced, it fits differently than the 2nd time. One side actually fits perfect now with no shims and the other side is off 3/8". I thought maybe there was a trick or adjustment in the linkage I was just missing.
