Default 69 to 77 FRAME QUESTION

Found a frame listed for a 74 to 77. Ad info states with minor modifications, will work for 69 to 73. I am sure the rear crossmember would be different but what other changes would need to be made. Not sure what all would be involved to make it fit a 71 but sure sounds interesting. Any thoughts from the frame experts?
Thanks,
Norm

If you have a 71, you should know that manual and auto frames have crossmembers that are different. The manual is welded in and the auto is bolted in. 68-72 frame is what I would look for. The 73 frame had a different frame exentsion on the front and would have to be modified to work for the 68-72.74 and up would need modifications to the front and rear of the frame.

Everything you need to know is listed here http://www.71corvette.com/frames.html As long as you don't mind originality (and alittle work) 63-82 fit. /:\

If you drive the car (and I mean DRIVE the car) the removable crossmember is soooo much nicer to service the trans/clutch.

Right you are! I'm glad to see that folks look at that stuff so soon after it's listed. If you have any other questions, just ask. /:\

BTW, the auto crossmember thing is an old racers trick from back in the day.

BTW pt II. I didn't write the frame artical on the '71 registry site if you are looking for unbiased info.

The repro frames are starting to look more reasonably priced all the time. If I had an offer of $4,000 for the 73 frame that I'm cleaning up now I'd probably sell it and get a Rowley Corvette frame.

The body that was going to go on the frame has met it's reserve, so now I would like the frame to find a new home too. I'd be happy to see it go in the $1500-2k range. If you guys know anybody paying 3-4 grand for one of these, please send 'em my way. /:\
