I usually put them on every Corvette I have. It really accentuates the lines of the fenders. I match them up too the interior color. What color is your interior.
Best,
Greg
well I have a black interior (dark blue exterior as you can see from my avatar), but I will be adding some red seats for contrast. So i was thinking about putting some red stripes on the fenders to bring in the red better. Do the fender stripes from a c5 fit the c3 well? Like these

I had a blue '73 with black interior. I used silver stripes and it looked pretty good. Red on blue might be a little...........out there.
One tip I can give you is, make sure you use the twin stripes that are one sixteenth of an inch, each. It makes the fenders look very clean and are available at all parts stores. Don't use the stripes that have one large and one small. They look too heavy from a few feet away.

EyeLuvCorvettes,
Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you were talking about the two thin stripes that run along the top edge of the front and rear fenders. I didn't realize you meant the later C5 style stripes.
Good luck with it.
Greg
Nice! I'll bet those weren't easy to do.
I expected something different though - some lengthways pinstripes or something. It will be interesting to see what others have.

Wacked and Jughead - where did you buy those?
Ecklers for the C5.
Dean I believe the purpose of the stripes goes back to the 60's and when the grandsport raced. Supposedly the stripes were applied to one of the vettes so the pit crew could easily identify which car was coming around.....thats what I heard was the reasoning.
Racing stripes maaaaan, everybody likes racing stripes.
I have to ask what is the purpose of these stripes and why on only one fender.
Trusting my old memory here....
Those stripes were used on the 60's Grand Sports vettes to distinguish one from another for pit stops at Sebring,etc...they used different colors,as I understand...or none on one of the vettes,depending...

Edit: Jughead remembers,as well...
