702=1960's
9=1969
2=Quadrajet
0=chevrolet
3 (odd#'s)=manual trans (even #'s=auto)
DY=Production plant code
There should be 4 more #'s after DY
Hope this helps
Glenn
[QUOTE=Sacredgrooves;1559491667]this is odd....mine has the 7029203 DY but does not have a set of numbers below that line.
That is odd....
it should be 4 digits. the first 3 are julian date and the last one represents the year. for example: mine is 0935 which is 93 day of 1975 (roughly april 3rd) on a june build car.

check around the base ... 1968 and early '69 had the date stamped on the driver side edge toward the rear --- the stamping would be a horizontal stamp .... ???
ok, that number makes sense, but why would it be built in 67 when 7029203 is for a 69 carb? is that possible?
the numbers were hand stamped ... no, 1967 does not make sense. But it could be a factory stamping mistake ...?? 278th day is early October. maybe it was supposed to be 2788 and he ran out of 8's?? or it was supposed to be 2778 and he had a hangover ...?? Maybe the base was changed a long time ago ...??
For reference here's a pic of my carb's number and date. This is the configuration you should expect to see on a production QJet. Note the date 0711 (seventy first day in 1971) along side the carb ID.
BTW, In the book "Corvette By The Numbers" it doesn't list a 7029203 for corvette production.
I believe Lars has a list of most if not all ID numbers and their application. You might want to pm him.
7029203 was used in the base engine 69 corvette with 4spd. It was also used in a variety of other 69 smallblock chevys, ie chevelle, camaro, chevyII...
However, I don't have a great memory for numbers, but that 7029203 might also be the number that was used in service replacement Qjets for many years, so that date code of yours could very well be 1977 (Definitely not 67!).
It could be that your carb was sold over the counter as a service carb. I have a 7029207 carb that the previous owner of my car bought as a service replacement that has a date from the mid-70's. However, my service carb has the date stamped on the main body like gg82's picture and not on the base like yours and as most '68 and '69 original carbs were. Another possibility is that your carb was remanufactured and the base was switched with a base from an earlier carb.
