Somewhere along the line my '72 vert had the wiper door removed and a different hood installed. The problem is that the wiper and bottom edge of windshield, wiper tray etc is very visible. Not very pretty.
I'm having the car painted and would like to know if there's a fix other than a new cap and hood. ($$) I would like to know what others have done in this case. Thanks
Here is a picture of my '71 with a '73-'76 hood on it. The top corners of the fenders had to be fixed to match up with the hood corners. My car was wrecked when it was new, hit a telephone pole, so they put the '73 hood on it. I kind of like it.
I have the same problem - a '72 with the longer hood (no wiper door). I've seen a wiper tray cover (Ecklers) advertised for a '75 or later but do not think it will fit ours. Maybe an aftermarket manufacturer will develop one.
I bought the wiper tray cover, but it does not hide the bottom of the windshield or the brackets for the windshield suports. The solution seems to be what the previous pic shows. It seems that the only way is to build up the fender corners. The strange thing is that the hood does not seem to be as long as the pic shows, as mine does not cover the bottom. I would also have to build up the hood. It's getting more complicated that I thought it would be.
Thanks for the input.
My hood is 61" long down the center. All the latches are in the same spot as the original. Hood support is the original for 71. I took the vacuum canister out and filled in the hole.
