I need to section in a new front cross member on a '79 and I'm wondering if anybody's bought one, who you bought it from and were you satisfied with the quality?
Thanks,
Greg

I got a cross member for my 75 auto trans from corvettemack on Ebay. This guy is out of Atlanta and always has a lot of original parts. Good prices, takes Paypal and ships the next day.
Peace!
Not sure, but I think Greg is referring to the "front crossmember" as in "in front of the engine" vs the "tranny crossmember"
At least I need a clarification.

I realize that he wants the front cross member not the trans cross member. I was just pointing out a source that I have used that has been reliable.
Sorry for the confusion.
Yes, it is the front cross memeber I was looking for. This one has been damaged, torn at the lower control arm anchor and re-welded 3 or 4 times. It's just a mess so I thought I'd just replace the whole thing.
Nobody makes a repro yet so I thought a used one would work. Then I found that Corvette Parts of Michigan offers a new, complete lower skin with the spring pocket holes for $129.
I can cut the damaged skin off with the plasma cutter and weld this one in place for a nice finish and a lot less work. It should be here Friday.
