1. an advantages of painting frame gloss over semi flat or vice versa that i cant think of?......im leaning towards semi flat black
2. comments or warnings about using Rustoleum bare metal primer and industrial oil based enamels for painting the frame and rolling it on? that stuff is made for industrial equipment and ALWAYS seems to hold up, fights rust, and is very tough. unless someone can show me a reason not to use it, im thinking this is the way im going.....comments?

I work in industrial maintenance and HVAC. We use a lot of two part epoxy for high moisture areas, but I decided against that for the car. I used the rustoleum primer on all my frame and new front crossmember work after the welding and fab work. I also used it inside and out on my floorboards after replacement.
I brushed mine on, don't see a lot of difference between that and rolling. I used gloss black simply because it seems to me gloss repels moisture a little better than flat or semi-flat paints. Gloss looks tacky (Bubba tacky, I mean) I'll admit, but you can't see most of it, and what you can see I just spray bombed a light coat of semi-gloss over.

Have used it for years with no problems.
Not a big deal if you have to do further frame work or mods down the road.
from what ive read it actually contains rust due to the oil base in it, plus its very chip/peel resistant. look at how well tractors hold up. Sometimes i think the cheap easy way is actually the best way to go.
I primed my blasted frame with Rustoleum primer and finish coated with semi gloss black. Used gloss black for trailing arms and upper and lower control arms, I think it looks great. Aside from looks, another nice feature is you will scratch and chip the paint during your reassembly, it is so easy to touchup. It is also very inexpensive, Wal-mart stocks it.
