Hi, i just bought a 73 vette. It is Elkhart green and i havent seen to many of them. I was just wondering if anyone knew how many were produced in 1973. Also, does anyone know how many beige/dark bronze were made in 1981.
Thanks a lot, Rob
The paint colour numbers are not known for 1973 and several other years. There's not many Elkhart Green cars around any more because most have been repainted a 'more popular' colour like mine was.
Don't know the totals but mine was and is now red. PO had it striped and change color in 1985.
Same here, started green with tan interior and is now red with a black interior. So we know there were three and currently you own the only remaining one.

I had one that started life Elkhart Green/Saddle and was changed to Black/red by the PO. I recently sold the car to a fellow forum member. Alot of people changed the color over the years to a more desirable combination.

Try the '73 Registry or the NCRS. There is an NCRS member who has charted '73 exterior colors based upon the '73s he has seen at various meets. He has compiled a percentage of colors based upon what he has found. I've read his article concerning '73 exterior colors, but I'm not sure where I read it (best guess is a back issue of the NCRS Restorer Magazine). Apparently there is no actual documentation available from GM.
In my databse of '73's I have 1491 73's listed of which I have 874 trim tag paint codes listed, and the code 947 is listed 87 times, thus ~10% of the 73's were painted Elkhart Green per my data -not scientific but it is the best I have.
Please send me your '73's SN and trim tag codes for me to include. rms0990@comcast.net
Mine is Elkhart Green with Black interior.. I've already looked at a body shop to have it repainted... and I'm going to be keeping it green. Its always been a favorite of mine, so add one more to the list.

Rob,
In 1972 there were 4200 Elkhart green Corvettes, this is out of 27,004 total produced, which accounted for 15.5%. In 1973 there were, 30,464 Corvettes produced and 15.5% would total to 4721 cars that could have been Elkhart green.
This is in no way a factual figure, but green and orange earthtone colors were still very popular in the early seventies. This might give you a pretty good idea of how many were possibly produced.
