Valve covers.. Keep or get new ? (pics)
Hi,
I took my valve covers off today due to oil leak.
These are the original ones and I am thinking of repainting and re using them.
Is this a good idea or do you think I should get some cool alluminum ones.
I am a little concerned that these may leak again.
Opinions please... the folks here are the best...
Pics......

Using a flat surface you can check to see if any of the sides are warped. You can probably clean them and reuse them just fine.
I have some chrome ones I will sell you cheap if you're interested.
I just got some sweet aluminum ones...but keep in mind that the sweet ones get expensive.

Hi Durango...
How much did your alluminum ones cost ?
I would like to see the chrome ones that you have.
Is it thick cast or moulded metal?

This is good stuff.
I love thick cast alluminum ones as opposed to the stock warped metal ones.

They are brand new chrome versions of the ones you have. I never even mounted them.
I will email you tomorrow with pictures and price. They're cheap.

Thanks! I got kind of lucky on this one. I found the valve covers at a swap meet for a $100. And at the time I knew a guy at the plate shop that did them for another $100. He did all of my chrome. But then he got a job with the railroad and screwed that all up..............

I am going to buck the rest of the responses and say clean and paint the originals. I like the stock look. IMHO the aluminum ones are too hard to keep clean. My.02

That and I need to polish everything. There is a heavy coating of garage dust on everything when I took this pic.
