Default Undercoating/Bedliner: Pros and Cons

I want to either spray undercoating or truck bedliner inside my interior to deaden vibrations and heat. The problem is, I don't know which one to use. The good thing about spraying undercoating is that if, god forbid, I get into an accident, it can be scraped off so I can refiberglass the body. If I spray truck bedliner, this stuff will be impossible to remove if I ever encounter some cracked fiberglass on my underbody. Plus, what's all the bad rap about undercoating anyways? I mean, yes, its old technology/material, but it performs to what it was intended to do. When I removed the old stuff from my interior, the fiberglass looked like it was brand new! I don't know anymore. Who out there has used undercoating in their interior? Who has used bedliner in their interior? Which one do you recommend?

I used Rhino lining on my lower rocker panels to avoid chips and inside my Toyota 4runner, it's a sand buggy only, so make easy to clean and sound proofed her. Actually, doing the floor boards, firewall and storage area would have been a great idea. Don't be affraid of getting it off, once a knife gets under it, it comes up in sheets...

Rhino lining or Line-X(i think). Durango Boy knows about this subject and may chime in

What about bed liner material in the fender wells? Seems to me it would work there better than under coating.

Seems like 69MyWay used Rhino Liner or something like this on his vette. If mine would have been a body off, I would have done something like this on the bottom to quiet it some. I have thought about doing this to my truck this summer. Its bound to work as a sound deadener.

Default cautionary tale

Rhino lining will add a lot of weight. Especially if it is the kid they hired for the summer doing it.

I don't know about the Rhino liner, but I had my truck done with Line-X. That stuff goes on at 160*, and is harder than rock. Not too sure I'd want to use that as a full undercoat on a Vette. Maybe some urethane or epoxy paint? I did shoot the bottom of a Chevelle with Imron- Looked great, but as nasty as that stuff is I'm not sure I'd do it again.

I WAS going to use LizardSkin, but the cost was way too much. I went with a normal roll-on bedliner that is solid when dry. I applied it in the interior so far in a couple of layers, and it went great. If you use a roller with a thinner nap, it will go on even smoother, which would be great if you are going to put fat mat or something similar on top...

I'm not sure why COINWASHERS pictures are not working. If you want to see his Lizard Skin photo's, I have a thread in the Tech section called "Body Dolly Fabrication", you can see them there. Looked pretty cool to me....gp

Seems to me undercoating and a heat barrier would work best and would probably be cheaper.

It would be very durable also. It adds too much weight though.

Why not something like Cascade Vblok Quiet-Kote or Dynamat Dynashield?
