A knocking from down under?
well i FINALLY got my motor started, and timed.....to some peoples amazment
when i started it and went to do the breaking in, i hear this knock about as loud someone taking their hand and knocking on a table, but its pretty high pitch....it sounds like hard light metal hitting thick metal...thats what it sounds like
well before i put the Distributor in *mind you i bought one of those 1 piece steel intermediate shafts that just slips on* i could see the shaft wiggle a good maybe 1/4" either way, maybe less. now do those 1 piece steel shafts require that plastic bushing still? im hoping thats the problems because i had a F_U_N time trying to stab the Dist. with that wiggly flippin' shaft.
i tried taking a video of my motor on break in for you guys/gals but everytime...and i mean EVERYTIME i went to take it, the motor wouldn't start! i think Kristine is shy

Drain the oil through a coffee filter and check for metal shavings or slivers.
A few steps need to be taken to diagnose this.
Where on the motor does this sound come from? Top, bottom, left or right?

it sounds like it coming from the distributor, that shaft was wiggly and i dont know if that has something to do with it or not 
its coming from the back though. ill have to drain it and check for shavings when i get off of work...
