Does the car have a build sheet?? Nice to have documentation on these cars to command the big $$.
My 1971 LT-1
not sure on the build sheet, I think the previous owner replaced the tank (UUUGGGHHHHH). Everything on the car is LT-1, from the #'s, heads, console, tach redline, hood, valve covers, intake. I have no reason not to believe its a real lt-1.
1) make sure its real
2) make sure its real
3) make sure its real
Oh yeah, the color combo is very cool, dont let anyone tell you different.
Thanks Jake, one P.O. to another, I scrutinized this thing pretty well, It's the real deal, even down to the date codes coinciding with a GM strike in 70.....Stay safe, John
Look for the TI harness and amplifier, if there still there that would probably clinch it for me as well as all the other signs you've stated.
At that price I would be interested in the car as well. I like the green/green combination, as it is not seen at all out west. I have been into '68 thru '72 Corvettes since March 1987 and have only seen one other green/green Corvette. It was a Donnybrook green with the bright green interior, I much prefer the beautiful Brands Hatch green (just stunning color) and the dark green interior that '71 offered. I believe it is the best of the green/green combos of '68 thru '72.
You can check the engine code on the block to make sure that it is a "correct" stamping. It shoudl have VIN on one side and then something that looks like V022CTU or something along those lines.
It should have the Transistor Ignition like another person mentioned.
I would get a list of the correct part numbers and then compare it to what is on the car.
Look at the windsheild post to make sure that it does have too much rust.
If its just a bent valve ..not a big deal. I slipped a timing chain on a 71 LT-1....bent all the valves and pushrods...never hurt the pistons... Good luck
