The clip that holds the window crank on is a C clip. You can use a window crank removal tool, but sometimes that scratches up the door panel as you try to push it into place and remove.
One of the methods I used was to take a small screwdriver and make a 90 degree bend near the tip.

The door handle is held in place with a screw. It will slide off the internal part.
And finally, the new door panel with all parts installed.

Maybe this will help. The orientation of the clip to the window crank is parallel to the crank itself. The clip end will either be under the crank or 180 degrees opposite it. That is the only way it will fit on.

I have used the same method and it does work. Look at the picture kdf1986 posted. If you slide the dish rag from left to right you will see that it will catch the clip and remove it as hvymtlc5 stated.
