OK i know some of you have done this, how hard is it to install poly bushings in stock strut rods? How hard is it getting the old bushings out? What do you do, drilll them out. I can't burn them out as mine are chromed. And also who has the poly bushings? I am in the process of replaceing my rear spindles and by the looks of it my bushings leave a little to be desired. They are about 20 yrs. old with only about 6000 miles on them but age has caught up with them I guess.
To get the old ones out, I used the socket method, similar to the way you can press out u-joints with sockets. Use a big impact socket around the rubber section and a small socket on the other side. Press them together in the vise and the inner sleave will come out.
Just did mine......Burned the old ones out with a small hand held bottle of propane...... the new ones are in halfs......just slip them in.....very easy.
I can't burn them out as they are all CHROMED. But I thought if I drilled all around the sleeve I could get them out that way. I take it the rubber is really stuck on to the metal of the strut, right?
