Default The mods start this weekend

Supposed to be nice tomorrow and then a large coastal storm rolls in on Sunday. So Sunday, the Corvette goes up on jackstands and the work starts.

Here is a list of what is in the basement and some of the work to do:
- Poly front bushings and ball joints
- Poly sway bar bushings
- Stainless T-Arm bolts and shims
- Heavy duty tie rods and new idler arm
- PS Control valve seal kit
- New GM rag joint
- Al Knoch carpet
- Sony CDX-610 DIN stereo with new 4x6 front speakers and surface mount rears from Pioneer
- New horn button to replace faded original
- 5 speed shift plate from Kiesler for my 5 year old Tremec
- New wood grain trim for console
- New hood liner
- Edelbrock Performer RPM Q-Jet manifold

I am still waiting on my custom 2 door storage compartment lid in '75 Med Saddle from Al Knoch.

I am also planning on repainting my steering column, parking brake console and seat buckets (I have 1981 seats). Still need to think about new parking brake cables, get a new drop base aircleaner and I am going to bend up a new fuel line using Lars' directions.

I am also looking at getting the T-Arms and steering box rebuilt after I get them off the car and checked out.

Man, Good luck with all of that. Have you ever though about just doing a frame off? Sounds like you will have just about everything apart.

Take lots of pictures.

I got it repainted less than 3 years ago and then spent a year deployed. Car is pretty solid and I will probably do a frame off when get out of the Navy in 3 years. This is just to hold me over till then. Pretty much everything I am doing can be taken back off and reused.

Good luck with your projects and getting started. I usually take my list and multiply the time I think it will take by 3. Thats about how long it takes for me. Hope yours goes smoother and faster.

Hey Steve,
One day down. How far did you get? The only thing I did today was drive mine to a wedding (with no front bumper cover). There is an inch of snow on the ground and I saw a salt truck go by the house a few minutes ago. I won't be driving it again anytime soon. Hopefully tomorrow I can spend the day working on the bumper cover.

One day down. Vette is on jack stands with wheels off. Interior is gutted. The only thing left in the interior is the driver's dash and the steering column (which need to come out to get painted). Today, I am going to try to get some of the suspension pieces off. I am starting to think that my headers are going to interfere with getting the steering box and idler arm out. I'll have to see how that goes.

I have some pics and will work on posting them later.
