I would guess for $119.00 you can guess how it will sound. Probably better than stock but nowhere close to a good set of comps and a real sub and maybe some 6x9's in a custom box.. I'm in the middle of planning a set up for my 69. DB has been a lot of help here:

I bought one and wired it up. It is ok. Go with a custom setup like the above, you will be happier. I'm leaving mine in until the wife forgets about it then one day poof.
Got mine here - a tad cheaper and only took them a week to get it to me.
Put one in my previous vette.....it sucked. Waste of money IMHO.
I got a box type set-up and put in Infinity speakers....much, much better...not perfect, but deeper/richer sound. Box setup takes a lot more space...creates difficulty for T-top storage. T-tops block sound when they are stored. I am sure that there are better set-ups than this, but I haven't looked into them yet.

If the T-tops are stored over a sub box it won't affect quality. If nothing else the extra surface area will help the situation.
The t-tops actually have to sit in front of the speakers which block the sound. The sound bar won't have this problem, but as I said previously..not worth the money IMHO.
I would buy them for the speaker mounting then replace the crap speaker w/some nice ones. I did that in two other cars purchased cheap speakers from pep-boyz or auto-zone just for the speaker box they came with. Replace them w/JBL's or another name brand speaker.
Maybe build something like this but incorporate the sub into it firing to the floor or back (set up or in a few inches). For a ragtop it may work nice and it looks like it wont interfere with the top being down. Maybe order it, take all the measurements off it if it fits nice...then custom build a new one to house the sub and amp. Do you still say no to a good set of 6 x 9's in a box like this with a set of comps in the kicks OR what about another set of 6.5's in a box like this instead of the 6 x 9's?

Bad link. ANYTIME you can use 6.5" speakers instead of 6x9" go for it.
The speakers in the back are fine, but remember that they will greatly affect the sound you get form the front speakers and not in a good way.

So you really would just stick with the front comps then? I trust what your saying and I can always add later I guess.
I'll try a set of those you recommended in my thread and see how it goes...

If you have the money, these are great, and I mean wonderful sounding comps. This stuff gets pricey as this is a higher end brand.
If I went with a component speaker system, I wouldn't know how to wire up everything with the crossovers and all.
I'd like to put some speakers in the kick panels but I couldn't find anyone that makes custom kick panels with speaker grills for an '82 vette. All I can find are custom kick panels with speaker grills for early C3's.

I would agree they not great, But they are adequate, in my case, since i take my vette on long cruises, I need the cargo space that a large box set up would use up, with the back area full of tools and luggae or t-tops or whatnot, I can still hear the tunes and motorvate down the road......
I may try the idea of upgradeing the speakers, never even thought of that, but mine have been in for three seasons now, I wont win any contests, but I can roll with this set up just fine
