OT Truck Tranny problem
My DD truck is a 2000 Z71 PU, it has a 4L60E tranny and it has started giving me a couple of problems. I ordered a book on this thing but don't have it yet. The thing is not shifting down to 1st or up to 4th, which means i am driving areound on 2nd and 3rd. Truck has 170k on it, mostly highway miles and I have never really beat on it.
Any ideas where to start looking? TV Valve? Any adjustments? How to troubleshoot? It indicates nothing on the computer display on the dash.

My brother in law has a 2002 2 wheel drive - his also was missing reverse. What went out was what is called a "sun shell". Dont know if this is your specific problem but he was able to drive about 250 miles back home with no problems and then have it fixed.
It does however mean a tranny rebuild is in your future if this is the problem.

Daily driver fixed, thanks to the smart guys at Downtown Transmissions in Davie Florida.
I asked the owner, Jeff I think, what he thought about missing 1st and 4th. He didn't even hesitate, bad shift solenoid.
OK, so I go a lil shoppin on Ebay, snagged a pair of them delivered for $30. Swappet them out today and I got all 4 gears again!
There are 2 shift solenoids: A and B. They work together to select 1, 2, 3 and 4.
Was a load off my mind, I was worried about annother project I didn't have time for. This only took about an hour and a half.
